“God Almighty declares the word of the gospel with power, and the warring women of Zion deliver its message.” — Psalm 68:11 (TPT)
There’s something quietly powerful about the women of Zion.
Not because they were loud. Not because they had a platform.
But because God gave the word—and they carried it in faith.
Psalm 68:11 paints a striking picture: God Himself speaks, and a great host of women—warring women of Zion—rise to deliver His message. They weren’t just background singers in the story of God’s triumph. They were heralds, messengers anointed and appointed for a purpose.
🌾 A Personal Word from the Desert
This morning, as I sat with the Spirit and read Psalm 68 alongside the first two chapters of Acts, something stirred deeply within me.
I was struck by the miraculous transformation at Pentecost—how timid disciples became bold proclaimers, how uncertainty was replaced by divine clarity. They weren’t speaking gibberish. Simon Peter spoke in his usual, everyday language. But through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, every person, regardless of language, heard and understood the message in their own tongue. It was a miracle of divine communication, not simple human eloquence.
When I turned to Psalm 68, my eyes landed on verse 11, and I paused.
“God Almighty declares the word of the gospel with power, and the warring women of Zion deliver its message.” — Psalm 68:11 (TPT)
I asked the Spirit, “Who are the warring women of Zion?”
And He answered.

🕊️ The Power of Faithful Obedience
These people are faith-carriers.
They don’t just proclaim for the sake of being heard. They carry the word of the Gospel by faith—faith to hear, faith to know what to say, and faith to wait on the how and when to speak.
If we rely on our own understanding—even with good intentions—we risk muddling the aim of the message. But when we pause, welcome the Holy Spirit, and desire above all to align with the Spirit of Jesus Christ, that’s when miracles happen.
The Spirit reminded me this morning:
You don’t need to worry about how the message will get out there.
Don’t be concerned about likes, follows, approval, or rejection.
Just carry the word in faith. Speak the Gospel as I lead. I’ll take care of the rest.
THAT is freedom.
Because God already knows every heart. He knows how to reach them, in ways far beyond our algorithms or eloquence. And His sheep? They’ll recognize His voice—even if it comes through your simple, trembling obedience, even if they are not awakened to whose they are just yet. That is His and His alone to do. We are just the carriers of faith.
🌵 Desert Lessons from Zion’s Women
Here in the Sonoran Desert, the terrain is dry, rugged, and often underestimated. Kind of like how people sometimes view the role of women in God’s Kingdom. But Psalm 68 reminds us: He calls, equips, and sends His daughters with fire in their bones and His word on their lips.
These women didn’t speak their own message.
They delivered the message of the gospel with power—because it was God’s word, not theirs.
And that’s what made them mighty.
💬 What Does This Mean for You?
It means you, dear desert dweller, have a place in this mighty host.
Whether you’re:
Discipling your children at the kitchen table,
Encouraging a friend through texts and prayer,
Or simply waiting on the Spirit to show you the next step…
You’re part of His plan.
You’re a modern-day woman of Zion—not because you’re flashy or flawless, but because you’re faithful. Because you’ve said, “Here I am, Lord. Use me.”

🌸 A Word for the Warring Women
To the woman praying over her home like it’s holy ground…
To the woman whispering Scripture over her fear…
To the woman quietly writing words she’s not sure anyone will read…
God declares the word.
You carry it by faith.
And that makes you mighty.
