This morning began like so many others here in the desert—early, before the heat rolled in. The air was still cool, and my little garden waited for its daily drink. I grabbed the hose, ready to walk to each spot quickly, when I felt the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit.
“Use your little blue watering can today,” He whispered.
Now, if you know me, you know the hose is the easy way—just walk and spray, done in minutes. But I smiled, set the hose aside, and obeyed. As I filled the watering can, I laughed in my spirit and said, “There’s a lesson in this, isn’t there, Father?”
I could feel His warm smile.
“Mmhmm.”

And as the water poured into the can, He began to speak.
“Daughter, think of your watering can as you, and the water as the Gospel from My Spirit and My Word that is shared through your actions and words to others. The plants are My Believers and disciples—your brothers and sisters, whether still asleep or just waking up. What happens when you take the water to the plants?”
I thought about it. “Well, they need water to grow and live, right Father? So, they grow stronger and live more fully.”
“Yes. And what happens to your little can—what happens to you?”
I paused. “It, or I, become empty at some point.”
“Exactly. Do you see that you have to come back to the Source for the water—the Word—constantly, to keep pouring out the living water and be the Light to others?”
I stopped mid-step, letting His words sink deep. Then He continued:
“The Sabbath is not a day, My precious daughter—it is in Me. It is coming to Me constantly, DAILY. Desiring Me to be with you. Walking in active faith-rest in My Spirit. Actively seeking to be led by My Spirit, delighting yourself in Me and in My presence, just as My Son did. That is Sabbath. That is why I am not concerned about just a single day each week for you to come and rest in Me. I want you to come and refill yourself in Me constantly, daily. I will give you rest. Just be still and know I Am God Yahweh, your Father who loves all of My creation—and especially those who choose to invite Me into their daily life and trust Me and My Word in active faith-rest. That is how you enter My promised land.”

Fellowship: An Invitation, Not a Demand
The Father also reminded me that while Sabbath rest is in Him daily, He still encourages gathering with other believers regularly. But not as some kind of religious demand—because that’s not His true character. He does not have want it to be law, not a requirement to gain His approval. He wants us to want to spend time together with Him, rejoicing, celebrating, being refilled, ministering in His Spirit.
It’s an invitation and a gift.
He knows that when His children gather in love and joy to worship, praise, and celebrate Him together, His Spirit pours out in a way that strengthens our faith, encourages our hearts, and draws His presence into the midst of us. It’s wonderful—because He is wonderful, and His goodness is uncontainable!
And when we gather in this way, (not because we HAVE to, because we WANT to) His Spirit flows beyond our fellowship. It moves from the spiritual realm into the natural, bathing creation in His Light, the world around us changes, blooms and grows. His living water even blesses the lives and hearts of those who didn’t even know they were thirsty for Him.
Hebrews 4: Faith Activates the Promise
Sometime later, the Spirit led me into Hebrews 4 in The Passion Translation, and verse 3 leapt off the page:
“For those of us who believe, faith activates the promise and we experience the realm of confident rest!”
Our faith is not what creates the promise—it connects us to it. Faith is the key that turns the lock, the action that draws what God has already prepared into our daily reality. And this rest He speaks of isn’t idleness—it’s a settled, joyful trust in His finished work.
The Lord also highlighted how the whole chapter is arranged with divine precision:
4 — God’s perfect created order (this chapter sets the order of living faith).
7 — Perfect Spirit fullness/ Faith-rest (“Today” is the invitation to hear and respond).
8 — Refresh, renew, rebirth (entering His rest brings new life).
9 — Awareness of Christ Jesus (true Sabbath-rest is fulfilled in Him). We should always remember, He is where it all starts. Our journey into fullness of Christ starts when we intentionally agree each morning to let His crucifixion be the crucifixion of our fleahliness. We humbly choose to share in His crucifying work every morning by giving Him our “old self” the moment we wake up each day.
The Greek word for “Sabbath-rest” in verse 9 is Sabbatismos—a celebratory rest. It’s not about stopping work for the sake of stopping—it’s about joyfully stepping into the celebration of His finished work.

Faith + Obedience = Completion
The Spirit also made this crystal clear:
A Believer’s loving choice to walk and talk in obedience with the Spirit of Christ is the completion of acting in faith.
Faith hears the Word and trusts it; obedience walks it out in everyday life. Together, they open the door to experiencing God’s promises in full.
Psalm 37:4 Connection
As I read, the Spirit brought one of my favorite verses to mind:
“Find your delight and true pleasure in Yahweh, and He will give you what you desire most.” (TPT)
Delight leads to trust, trust births faith, and faith activates the promise. And when the promise is activated, you live in rest—not striving or religious obligation, but deep friendship with the Father.

The Invitation for Today
Hebrews 4 begins with a warning not to miss God’s rest through unbelief, and it ends with the reassurance that we can come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find help in our time of need. This is the life we are called to—one of daily returning to the Source, just like my little blue watering can.
The Sabbath isn’t about one special day. It’s about Today.
It’s about meeting with Him now, tomorrow, and every moment after.
It’s about walking in active faith-rest—hearing His voice, trusting His Word, and obeying His Spirit because you love Him.
The invitation stands:
Come and be filled. Then go and pour out. And so you won't ever be empty again, come back again and again. As many times as you want. Anytime of the day or night. Anywhere and anyway you can. Just talk to Him. Listen to Him. Eternally rest in His love. Even if you just have a small watering can’s size of capacity to carry some of His Life Giving Water a little at a time. Come to Him daily. Seek His goodness with whatever little drop of faith you have. He will fill you up with more. He will never deny you when you choose to humbly place your faith in Him. Give Him an inch of faith and God will finish the mile with His great faithfulness, so we can carry on. 🙌
That is the rhythm of His perfect created order. That is how you not only how you crossover to His promised land, its how you LIVE and REMAIN there. 🌿💧✨
