🌿 Walking with God in the Garden: A Cup of Peace and the Gift of Intimacy

ree

Psalm 25:14 (TPT)

“There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God, where they sit near Him and receive the revelation-secrets of His promises.”

Psalm 25:5 (TPT)

“Escort me into your truth; take me by the hand and teach me. For You are the God of my salvation; I have wrapped my heart into Yours all day long!”

This morning, the Spirit whispered, “Go to the garden.”

So I did.

I clipped a sprig of holy basil, a bit of sweet mint, and a few tender clippings of Roman chamomile. At first, I didn’t know why. But then the Spirit nudged again: “Look up how to make tea with these.”

As I stood there in my garden, surrounded by life and listening to the still small voice of the Lord, I realized—He wasn’t just teaching me how to steep herbs.

He was inviting me to sit with Him. To receive. To rest.

And so, I brewed the tea.

🫖 Fresh Garden Peace Tea

Made with love. Led by the Spirit.

🌼 Ingredients:

  • 1 small sprig of holy basil (about 5–7 leaves)

  • 1 small sprig of sweet mint (about 4–6 leaves)

  • A few small clippings of Roman chamomile (flowers and soft stems)

  • 8 oz hot water (not boiling – about 190°F)

  • Optional (but highly recommended):

a little raw honey 🍯 and a small slice of lemon 🍋

☕ Instructions:

  1. Rinse your herbs gently under cool water.

  2. Lightly crush the holy basil and mint to release their oils.

  3. Place all herbs into a cup or teapot.

  4. Pour hot water over the herbs.

  5. Cover and let steep for 7–10 minutes.

  6. Strain (if loose), and sip slowly.

  7. Invite the Lord to sit with you in this moment of peace.

Let the warmth of the cup be a reminder: His presence is near. His love is real. His peace is personal.

🌸 The Beauty of Being Invited

The Lord doesn’t force us to follow Him.

He invites us—like a Father who lovingly says, “Come, let Me show you something wonderful.”

As I sat with my tea in hand, the Holy Spirit began to speak to my heart about love, trust, and the power of free will. He longs to bless us—abundantly! But He won’t manipulate us into obedience. Why?

Because love that isn’t chosen… isn’t really love at all.

🍪 A Cookie and a Lesson in Love

When my children were small, one of my favorite things was baking warm chocolate chip cookies for them. I loved seeing their little eyes light up and their joy overflow as they enjoyed something I made just for them.

But before they got their cookie, I had to make sure they ate their vegetables.

Not to punish them.

But to nourish them.

To prepare them for the good I had waiting.

God is just like that. His Word, His ways, His Spirit—they’re the nourishment our souls need. And when we trust Him—truly trust Him—we open ourselves to all the good He has for us.

🌿 From Religion to Relationship

This is what He wants:

Not religious obligation.

Not surface-level faith.

But intimacy.

A heart fully surrendered. A spirit that walks in step with His.

And when we choose Him freely, we begin to see the world differently.

We hear His voice more clearly.

We are led not by fear or habit, but by love.

I have more joy now than I ever thought possible—not because life is perfect, but because He is present.

💛 A Final Sip & A Prayer

“Father, thank You for inviting me into Your garden of peace. I choose to walk with You, not because I have to, but because I want to. Escort me into Your truth. Teach me Your ways. I wrap my heart into Yours today. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
