Blog Post: From Heaviness to Heavenly Healing: My Health Journey Back to Wholeness

I’ve been quiet about some health issues I’ve faced these past few years. But today, I feel led to share—because someone out there might be exactly where I was, and you need to know there’s hope, healing, and a faithful God walking right beside you.

As I was approaching the golden age of 50, the weight gain came on steadily. I tried so many different programs and wasted so much money. But over the last two years, menopause hit full force—hot flashes all the time, I’d wake up with swollen feet and legs, feeling like the Tin Man from Oz—asking the Lord if there was some kind of oil can for my joints out there.

The Red Flags I Ignored

The first red flag came in March. I was at the dentist for a procedure, and they took my blood pressure. It was high. I have never had a problem with high blood pressure before. However, I brushed it off as nerves due to the upcoming surgery and a trip I was about to take to Florida. Then, just as my 53rd birthday approached, I began experiencing moments where my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. Still, I didn’t say anything to anyone. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. And truthfully, I had a “reason or excuse” for every time it happened.

But deep down, I knew something wasn’t right.

A Wake-Up Call from God

One morning, I felt a physical heaviness in the left side of my upper chest—a real, pressing weight. It wasn’t just discomfort. It was a wake-up call!

I cried out to the Lord:

“Father, I can’t do this anymore! I HAVE to get healthy!”

And in His gentle, powerful way, I heard Him speak to me in the Spirit:

“You will act in faith, and I have healed your heart, daughter. Your faithfulness has healed you.”

“Jesus responded, ‘Beloved daughter, your faith in me has released your healing. You may go with my peace.’” – Luke 8:48 (TPT)

Just like that, the pressure lifted.

Gone.

I knew I’d been given a second chance. So I made Him a promise:

“Lord, I will take better care of this body You’ve given me.”

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit…? So you must honor God with your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NLT)

You are a living sacrifice.

The Path to Restoration

That was the moment everything began to change.

God started leading me, one step at a time. First, He brought me back to Meredith Shirk and her Svelte Fitness program. Then He led me to Dr. Eric Berg. And just recently, through Dr. Berg, I discovered Ben Azadi.

With their honest and insightful guidance—and the Holy Spirit guiding every decision—I’ve lost 30 pounds since March! And, in a healthy, sustainable way.

Praise God in Heaven!!

  • The digestive issues? Fading.

  • The arthritis? Gone.

  • The menopause madness? Minimized.

  • The “Stay Puft Marshmallow” mornings? No more!

  • The brain fog? So much clearer!

As Ben, Dr. Berg, and Mere always say:

“Get healthy to lose weight”—not the other way around.

And they’re right. Life is far too full of moments you don’t want to miss, just sitting on the sidelines and watching from a distance.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

God Is Faithful—and He Moves with Us

I am deeply grateful to God for restoring my health.

He’s not just changing my habits—He’s reshaping and renewing my very cells. He is giving me a new body!

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:26 (ESV)

He is a good and faithful Father who hears our prayers. But He also asks us to participate in His blessings. To act in faith. To say yes, trust and obey. He will NOT interfere with the free will He has given us.

And when we do?

He moves.
