Are You a Prisoner?

Received from the Lord on May 23, 2024

Acts 16:26 (TPT)

"Suddenly a great earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. All at once every prison door flung open, and the chains of all the prisoners came loose."

What is a prison?

It’s a place to hold those who have done wrong—but it’s more than that.

Do we have prisons in our own lives?

Think about addictions—alcohol, drugs, pornography—or even pride. The list goes on indefinitely.

Are these prisons? Yes!

Just like a physical prison, where inmates have limited freedom, these things also bind us. There is little freedom in sin. We become captives to the very things we think we control.

But look again at the verse:

"All at once every prison door flung open, and the chains of all the prisoners came loose."

WOW!

How does that happen?

Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!

He is the One who sets the captives free.

He came to earth as an infant, raised by earthly parents. At the age of 33, He was crucified—taking our sins upon Himself, carrying them to hell. And three days later, He rose again!

He walked out of the tomb!

He broke every chain when He suffered, died, and rose again.

Because of His great love for us, He gives us free will—our ability to choose. But even that gift, when misused, can become a prison of its own.

Yet Jesus knows our hearts—the deepest, most hidden places. He knows when we’re ready to surrender. To ask for forgiveness. To invite Him in.

That is when the chains fall off. That is when the prison doors fly open. That is when freedom begins.

May this Resurrection Sunday be the day your chains fall, your doors open, and your heart walks free.

He is Risen. He is Freedom. He is Jesus.
